Randomness

We had a great 4th of July holiday. A few days prior however, I was laying in bed sicker than a dog. But we won't talk about that. :-)

Here are a few random thoughts from our holiday weekend....

*I love holidays. Any holiday where we can relax, maybe go swimming, and basically just pig out. I'm all for it. :-)

*Especially when we grill. I love me some burgers and dogs off the grill. Nothin says summer til you've had a BBQ!

*It's very difficult coordinating red, white and blue outfits for all 3 of my kids. Usually I plan ahead better than this. I kinda dropped the ball on it this year.

*Sissy has a LOT of pink and purple clothes. She's very tomboyish in her play style and attitued and everything. I think I over-compensate for that by buying her lots of pink stuff!

*Thus, Baby Girl is the only one of my kids who ended up with cute red, white and blue attire this year. Yeah, she's new :-)

*It is no fun being sick. I was sicker than I've been in a long time the end of last week.
*Turns out I had Mastitus (sp?), which is an infection in the breast that nursing mothers tend to get.
*Funny, never got it with my other 2. And never wanna get it again.
*Amazing how quickly antibiotics work. And how much better they make you feel! Bring on the drugs!!!
*oh yea, we weren't gonna talk bout that, were we?
*Baby Girl is giving out her smiles more freely these days. And let the cooing stage begin. I LOVE it!

* I might be MIA in bloggy world for a few days. Don't worry, all is good. We are about to embark upon an adventure. I shall post more in days to come.... :-)

Mondays Random Musings

*It's raining here today. Been raining all weekend. It's getting kind of old. Especially when we went to my moms on Saturday and was in the pool for 30 minutes then it started raining. Not fun. Dad said, "come on kids, we gotta get out of the pool or we're gonna get wet!" lol

*Eight more days until Lilly's first day of preschool. This momma can't wait! :)

*Twenty-one more days until Isaiah's first day of preschool. This momma really can't wait!!!!! :)

* So far this short little blog has taken me 3 1/2 hours to type. No, I'm not just a really really slow typer....just got distracted with the kids and had to put this on hold, and about forgot about it and am now getting back to it- lol. Yes, this really is random musings.

* I love eating out. Yes, this is a horrible habit that I am determined to break. It's been really tough with Jer's travel schedule, and for me and the kids it's just so much easier to grab something out, than make something here that the kids won't eat. My hips are not liking this too much.

* I am going to the church tonight to learn how to give hand and neck massages. I'm actually really excited! I think it'll be fun! Jeremy is excited about it as well. He said I can practice on him anytime. ha-- silly husband. ;)

* One of my really really really good friends, whom I've known for like 14+ years (since we were freshman in high school) is expecting her first child, and she is having twin girls. I am soooo happy and excited for her! We had a friends & family shower for her at my house a few weeks ago, and last weekend we had a church shower for her with her church family. She is due Sept 9th, and has a scheduled c-section on Aug 26th. If she can make it that long. :) Here is a photo at her co-ed shower at my house:

And here is Monica at her church shower. yes.....I do believe Monica might kill me for posting this...... ;)

* So I hear we've started like the pre-season football games, or something like that. At least according to half my friends' status' on facebook. geez. Every fall I thank the Lord I do not have a football maniac of a husband. :)

* So I've been thinking about vacations a lot lately. Maybe because we didn't really take one this year. I'm so deprived. j/k. I'm thinking a big trip in 2 years, when Jeremy and I celebrate 10 years together. Back to the Bahamas? Jamacia? Hawaii? So many wonderful choices. Ha....knowing us, we'll pick someplace like St Louis or Springfield- LOL.

* Jeremy is gone, again to Mexico. Left this afternoon, and will be returning in 10 long days. Prayers are welcome! :)

What's been going on in my life lately you ask? (Well, maybe you didn't ask, but I will tell you anyways. Just for the fun of it) :)

Jer finally came home. After 12 long days and nights. He came home Friday night. Got home about 9 or so, and the kids were still up......had to stay up to see daddy of course. Boy were they excited. I should have video taped it. We were going to stay at the top of the stairs, and "scare daddy" when he came in, but the kids just couldn't hardly contain themselves. (ok, so I couldn't hardly contain myself....) As soon as we heard his car door shut in the garage, we came barreling down the stairs like a herd of elephants. Ah, such a sight to see I'm sure. :)

We have been spending as much time together as a family as we can this past weekend and this week. Because we know another trip is just around the horizon. Next Monday morning to be exact. Another trip to good ol' Mexico City, for another 12 long days and nights. Looks like it will be like this for a couple more months at least......going in to fall. *sigh* BUT......I will survive! Reminds me of a saying Pastor Jason gave a few months ago......"I can't, but YOU can through me!"

Some random thoughts, on this cloudy, lazy Tuesday.....

*I made some cream cheese mints with a friend the other day. They were deeee- lish! I must share the recipe. As soon as I get it- ha! We made them at my friends house, and used her recipe, and therefore came home with a bunch of yummy mints- but no recipe.

*My kids have developoed an unhealthy obsession to watching Full House reruns on DVD. (flashback to my childhood!) They just love, "Michelle.....and whats the other girs names?" as Isaiah asked me the other day. You know it's getting bad when Isaiah walks around saying 'how rude'. *sigh* what have I done???

*It has been unusually cool for this time of the year in KC. High of.....78 today? In July? Unprecedented! My poor Lilly continues to ask daily if we are going to MeMa's house to go swimming.

*It is almost time for dinner. What is on the menu tonight? I'm thinking something chicken......mainly because that's what I pulled out of the freezer this morning. Stay tuned.....

Now where are those little people at? oh yea.......in the living room watching.....yup, Full House.

a bunch of randomness :)

Yes, so it's been awhile since I've been on here. I've recently had a love/hate relationship with my blog. Thinking about just deleting it, but then sad, to think of it ending, but then thinking, 'who actually reads this anyways'? back and forth.....you know how it goes. And well....here I am. Writing another blog, so you can see which of "me" won- lol. Let's see.....my mind is jumbled. Randomness is all ya get for today- sorry.

~I had a not so pleasant experience on Friday. Felt fine, was out garage saling with my mom, when all of a sudden, my stomach started hurting and my head began to feel like I was in a 'cloud' or fog, and felt like I could pass out. Pulled into a parking lot, hopped out of the car, to go try to use the restroom, when, the next thing I knew, I was lying on the concrete- passed out cold. Thankfully, my mom was right there with me. She got me to wake up, and I told her to call Jeremy. Jer was there in 10 minutes (he was working from home that day- PTL). To make a long story short, I went home and took a 2 hour nap, and felt much better when I woke up. I have no idea what happened, or why I passed out. It's a mystery. A lady who helped me asked if I was pregnant. "no" I said. She asked if I was diabetic. "no" I said. hmmmm......The rest of the weekend I have felt fine. But I would be amiss if I did not give God praise and glory for being there with me. 1) jeremy was working from home that day (which he hardly ever does), so he was able to come to my rescue in 10 minutes, 2) my mom was with me, so I was not alone at all, and 3) my sister was babysitting my kids for the day, so we did not have to worry about them. Thank you Jesus for protecting me!

~Saturday was a casual day. Gotta love those days. I mowed the yard and Jer started painting the entry way. We babysat my nephews Sat night and took them to Paradise Park for dinner and to play. That's always a big hit.

~Sunday was a great day in the Lords house. I sat with my friend, Jenni, who is visiting here from Guatemala. She went there on a missions trip, and met her then would-be husband, and got married there. They now live there and have a 9 month old baby girl. I got to hold her during church. She is a cutie. Jenni and her family is leaving this week back for Guatemala though. :(

~This is a pretty low key kind of week. Not a whole lot going on. Had lunch with mom and the kids today. Taco Via. =) Hope your week is lookin good as well!

Randomness

* My son is STILL driving me crazy. Today, is the "ING" problem. Hitting, throwing, pinching, spitting, screaming, kicking, slamming (doors).......yup, all those fun action words. :/ He's in his room for his 1,000,000,000 time out. Seriously, can I just run away and come back when he's 18?!

* We are knee deep in garage sale hoopla over here. Currently we have 10+ tables set up in the garage and 2 hanging racks full of stuff. (Granted, it is not all mine....my mom, my sister, my cousin and my sister-in-law are all participating as well, and have added their stuff. ) Lots and lots of treasures. :) Our "opening day" is tomorrow. :) Wish me luck. I'm hoping to get enough to pay for us to repaint our living room/kitchen/entry area. And with what's left over after that, I was thinking about looking in to buying a hot tub for our patio outside, or possibly putting the kids through christian school. Or maybe even putting a down payment on a mini van. :) Hey, it could happen, right? (it really and truly would be a miracle though, since the most expensive thing I am selling is only $30!)

* Some great thoughts to ponder......

...........why does a round pizza come in a square box?

............why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

............if corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what is baby oil made from?

...........did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him for a car ride; he sticks his head out the window?

...........why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

Things that make you go HMMMMMM.......

Thursday, April 9, 2009

It's been a pretty busy week this week, thus explains the lack of blogging. Blogging has been on the back burner. wow, try to say that 10 times fast. Anyways, since I got back from my MPact Leadership Conference in Springfield last weekend, I have spent most of this week just getting back in the groove of things, doing laundry, trying to get into my routine of doing my work-outs, cleaning up the house....yada yada.....and I was only gone Friday and Saturday! Think if I was gone a week at a time.....it would take me a month to get back to "normal"!! lol.

*Kids had their spring musical at church on Sunday. Fantastic job, by the way. I love love love their performances and musicals.

*I'm babysitting my nephew, Braden today. We've had quite a noisy day over here....of running, playing, fighting, watching tv and fighting naptime. Braden has stayed in bed for naptime pretty good. It's those "other two" kids that are giving me fits. go figure.

*I am sooooo glad it is April, and spring and Easter is just around the corner. Now.....if we can only get those spring-like temps, we'd be good to go!

*I went the other day and got cute little Easter outfits for the kiddos. Realized today that I don't have anything for myself to wear. Nothing new anyways. I could always wear the dress I wore for Easter last year. No one really remembers that stuff, right? Until we pull out the scrapbooks at least.....

I'm being paged by my 3 year old. Gotta jet.

A New Baby to Welcome!

I'm so excited, my good friends Jason and Pam just had their first baby, a little baby girl! Hailee Jean is her name, and she is just about as cute and precious as they come. She was born in to the world (on her due date!) March 1st at 2:11 pm and weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and was 18.5" long. Sweet as they come. Congrats Jason & Pam!

In other Radomness today....

*It's March! Welcome March! I love March. It's one step closer to SPRING! I am sooooo ready for the snow and heavy coats to be gone! It's also a big birthday month in my famiy. Both my parents and my son all have March birthdays. (And of course, we can't forget Monica and Jeremy!) :)

*Next weekend is the dreaded daylight savings time, as my church reminded us on Sunday. I probably woulda forgot. Is is here allready? seriously? *sigh*

*I am getting more and more on the mend from my sickness that plagued me last week. Still got the leaky faucet (runny nose), and little cough, but feeling MUCH better than last week. Just in time to......

*Get ready for Isaiah's birthday party this weekend! His birthday is Friday. He'll be 3!!! Whew....we survived the two's. (barely). I am welcoming the threes with open arms. Nothing big or major for his birthday this year, just a family party. (We are saving the "big" parties for when he's older and begs us for them. Until then, we're going cheap! lol)

*Um let's see. Nothing much else going on over here. Gettin ready for the weekend and next week we are having company come in and stay with us, so we are really looking forward to that! My old youth pastor and his family. Can't wait to see them and their 3.5 children. Actually it's probably more like 3.1 children. lol. Is that right? Math was never my strong point. Anywho, they have 3 kids, and one due in September. :) yay!!!

Hope ya'll had a good Monday, or at least survivied. :)

Weigh-In Wednesday

I lost another 2.5 pounds this week! woo-hoo! I thought I was doing pretty good, then yesterday felt like an off-day, and I just felt like I didn't do very good when I went to bed last night. So I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I looked at the scale. Hey, every pound (or half a pound) counts!!! :)

In other news:

* Lilly is home sick today. She was complaining about a tummy ache last night when our family went to check out some books at the public library. Isaiahs's been sick off-and-on for a while now, so I was waiting for this to happen. This morning, she didn't want any breakfast and was laying around and had a slight fever of 100.5. She's sleeping on the couch now. Speaking of which....I still need to call her school and let them know she won't be there today.....

* I was planning on going to a preschool here in LS today to check out for Isaiah for the fall. Not sure what to do now, as I can't take a sick daughter there with all those kids. I just hope they don't fill up before I can enroll my son! (if that is the one I decide on)
* I have been working on our family cookbook for a while now. My family (me, my sister, my mom and my 2 cousins) have been compiling all our recipes together in a family cookbook that I am putting together. It's really coming together and I think will look great when finished. I will be selling some, so put your order in now if you'd like one! :) It has some great family recipes in it. I wish I had a laptop so I could take my computer down to the couch today, and work on it while I nurse a sick child......

* Jer and I had a fabulous Valentines Day. Here we are at my all-time favorite (italian) resteraunt.

And here we are, our family, opening our Valentines goodies :)

Better go check on Lilly. Have a fabulous day.

Sorry for the delay....

....but my computer is currently out of commission. The internet connection died on me yesterday afternoon, before I got around to doing my blog for the day. Jer looked at it last night, and the computer tech is suppose to come this evening between 4-9pm. So I'm currently using my moms computer for the moment. I'm so lost. No internet, no blog, no email.....what's a girl to do? ;)

*****
I went with Lilly this morning with her class at school on a field trip to Paradise Park. We've been there before- since we have a family pass - and the kids just LOVE it. Isaiah cried this morning when he found out where we were going and he couldn't go with us. I dropped him off at my moms before Lilly and I went there. We had a good time. I got to meet lots of her school friends who she talks about a lot. Then we came back and got mom and Isaiah and had Taco Bell for lunch, then came back to moms, and she gave the kids their Valentines presents. So I will not stay on here long, since I am at moms. Just wanted to end you with the good news, that I did not get to share with you yesterday......
My first official week of Weight Watchers, and I lost 3 pounds! woo-hoo! Weigh-in Wednesday was yesterday. The 2 ladies I am doing this with (my sis and a friend from church) both lost yesterday too. :) So it was a good day. We are not going to the meetings, or officially signed up with WW, but have done it in the past, so we know how the program works, and we are just keeping each other accountable. Working so far. I'll keep ya posted. :)
In the meantime, pray my internet problem gets fixed, and I'll be back on here soon with some Valentine stuff. :)
Love ya,

Saturday Stuff

So my diet is going fairly well. I thought I was going to die of hunger the first day. And had a huge headache, from chewing so much gum. I had to text my sister to ask how many points gum was. lol. I was desperate! I'm just used to snacking and munching throughout the day. What a horrible habit. Anyways, today is my 3rd official day on the diet. No, it's not a diet. It's a lifestyle. ;) After going to bed last night with my tummy growling, I had to take a peek at the scale this morning and just see, if anything happened. I was pleasantly surprised, but am not getting my hopes up yet. I still have 5 more days til the "official" weigh-in day.

*****
In other news, I have been thinking about this for a while now, and after reading a cyber-friends post on her blog the other day, I have officially decided to go private with my blog. I have allready made it semi-private, where people can't find my blog by a word or phrase they "google". However, since I do use our real names and sometimes mention places around our home, I thought it would be very smart of me, to make this blog private, so only invited users can read. I really enjoy blogging and posting pics of the kiddos on here, but with all the wack-o's out there in the world, how safe can it really be?
I know it is mostly family, close friends and bloggy friends that read this. And I'm cool with that. I'm not here for "numbers" or "statistics". So.......with that said, starting on Tuesday, this blog will be private. So unless I add you, you will not be able to read this. So, email me, call me, text me, facebook message me, whatever, if you would like to be added.
Then I can post pics/stories of my kids, without worrying what crazy people are looking at us.

*****
Well, the weather is beautiful today, and I think my family just went out to enjoy some sun, so I think I will go join them. Have a great day! God Bless!!

Random Ramblings

Today was spent mostly indoors, doing laundry, general clean-up, watching Cars with Isaiah.......on and on. After dinner, we did get out of the house. Jer took Zayers to my sisters, he had some stuff to do over there (Jer, not my son- lol), and I took Lil Lil to the public library. Lil Lil's first visit to the public library (I know! And she's four! We don't get her out much- lol), and it was my first time back there in a looooooong time. Last time I've been there, they were still "stamping" the books with the due date stickers on the back. Now, of course, they have to keep up with the new technology, and it's all electronic. Nifty. Although, I think I like the old way better. If anybody knows me, you know what a horrible memory I have, and having the due date actually stamped on the back of the book, was so much easier. Now they print off a receipt, and it just has the due date printed on there. Yea, like I'm going to be able to keep that receipt for a whole month. Ha- you haven't seen my wallet lately, have you? ;) Anyways, I will do my very best- to remember to bring Lil Lil's Dora and Princess books back on March 2nd. March 2nd. Anybody want to volunteer to send me a few reminder between now and then? And maybe a call on the evening of March 1st? :)

BABY NEWS! NEWS ALERT! BABY GALORE!

Seems like everywhere I look, people are just showing up pregnant and poppin' them babies out. (I don't know why I just said that, I used to hate that phrase. a- Women do not, "pop out" babies, if it was only that easy, there'd be a LOT more babies! and.....well, I don't really have a 'b'. "A" pretty much says it all- lol)

Anyways..........some friends/family has some baby news.....

Jer's cousin, Katie, is pregnant, and just found out she's having a girl. We don't get to see her but once, maybe twice a year (Labor day weekend, and sometimes on Thanksgiving), so I actually just found out about her pregnancy about a month or so ago. She just turned 20, and is not married, so if you would, please say a prayer of protection over her and her baby girl.

My long time ago friend, from waaaaay back, when I was a kid, is pregnant with her third, and found out, I think around Christmas, that she is having twins! A few unspoken prayer requests to go along with her as well.......her name is Brittany.

Good friend from church, Ali, is pregnant, due in May, with baby boy. Number 3.

Friend from high school and church, Pam, is pregnant with baby #1. Her and her husband are having a baby girl. She's due March 1st. :) coming up quick! Just went to one of her baby showers on Sat.

Another friend from high school and church, Monica, found out awhile back that she is pregnant. yay! And surprise! She's having twins too! Due mid September.

I'm so happy for all my pregnant friends!!! :) Yay!!!! I love babies! I get to hold and love on most of these babies, and then get to send them home with mommy!

Random Ramblings

I'm baaaaaaack! Are you excited?? ;)

Is is just me, or is this week going by extreeeeemely slow? Must be just me. Seems like it should be Friday allready. Or at least Thursday!

But then again, the week always seems to go by extra slow when the love of my life is away. He left Monday morning for a work trip to Mexico City. ya-hoo. Will be home Friday evening. Thank the Lord for family. Have I said that lately? What on earth would we do without family?! My parents, my sister and my sister-in-law is helping me out this week. They must feel sorry for me ;)

Mom met me and the kids for lunch today, then took the kids back home with her for the afternoon, so I could make a run to Target and get some stuff done at home. If you've been reading this for any amount of time, you now know that taking my 2 kids shopping is probably one of my top 5 LEAST favorite things to do.

My newest obsession is Facebook. I'm seriously addicted! If your not on FB, you should join me. Talk about a big fat waste of time! lol. good stuff.

Speaking of which, my hubby is now on FB and chatting with me - so gotta go. Talk more later.

Some thoughts...

I've come down with some sort of stomache bug today. No fun. We had plans for this afternoon, which I had to cancel, and the kiddos and I just stayed in today. Well, until this evening, we made a run to the drug store, then to the drive thru of the golden arches. woo-hoo....talk about quite the gourmet meal for dinner. I didn't care though. I just felt crummy. And to top it off, Jer left this morning again for work in Mexico. So.....with Jer being gone + me being sick = fast food for dinner!

I'm feeling somewhat better tonight. And thought I'd post a few of my thoughts for today......

*I'm so excited that my parents are returning from their 3 week vacation tomorrow. They had a great time.
*I'm obsessed with Facebook. What is the big deal anyways?
*I'm pondering what to dress my kids up for Halloween this year. Last year, Lilly was a unicorn and Isaiah was Elmo. (both were free-- given to me) :) Hm. My friend Brandi is dressing her kids up in Wizard of Oz characters......Glenda, Dorothy, Tin Man and Scarecrow, and wanted me to dress up my kids as the Lion and ToTo! Not sure.....
*I've been thinking I need a job, lately. Maybe the stress is getting to me. Maybe I'm just crazy. I am thinking it would be nice to make some of my own money. That way for Jeremy's birthday, I'm not using his money! Jeremy is discouraging the idea though. Maybe it's just a phase.
*Yesterday we celebrated Pastor Appreciation Day at the end of service. We had all 10 pastors and their spouses line up in front of the stage, and of course our senior pastor and his wife got a standing ovation. Seriously, we have the most awesome pastoral staff. We collected up an offering for them too. They all work and flow so well together. Must be a God thing. :)
*We are heading out at the end of the week for a vacation. We'll be seeing some old friends we don't get to see that often. Sooooo excited! (I just hope this stomache bug is completely gone by then.....)
*I've been contemplating taking photography classes. (back to the "me finding a job" issue earlier. What a great part time/work when you want kind of job.)
*I've also been contemplating taking sewing and/or cooking classes. The domestic woman in me is trying to get out!!! She's been locked up for so long! ha.
*My hubby will be calling soon from Mexico. I miss him so much allready. And of course, Lilly has allready snuck in our bed and fell asleep. She knows that Daddy is gone. *sigh*

Hope you all had a great weekend. Talk more soon!

Hugs~Sheila

Something to pray about

If you think about it, please pray for my mom tomorrow. She is having some outpatient surgery done on her eye, and will be under anesthetic (sp?) and is more worried about the anesthesia than the surgery itself. She does not do well under anesthitics, and her blood pressure drops really low. Please keep her in your prayers if you think about it. Many thanks!

In the meantime, it's been a fairly laid back, easy week. It helps that Monday was a holiday. Although, it kind of messed me up all week. I've been off a day all week. I felt a little under the weather today, and actually had to call my mom to come help me. I seriously thought I was going to pass out there for a little bit. We all survived though, and not sure what happened with me earlier, but I'm better now.

It's late, and I need to get to bed. Just wanted to leave you with a couple things. First of all, regarding the elections and the whole Obama/McCain and now Palin news/drama, I thought this was a great read to check out.

And.....a thought for the day......

If you want to enjoy the rainbow, you have to be willing to endure the storm.

Just something to think about.

Hugs~ Sheila

The ICK Factor

Anybody else use to watch the sitcom "Friends"? Well, I must admit, Jer and I are Friends junkies. Or, we used to be at least. Now that it's not running anymore, we don't see it nearly as often as we used to. Way back in the beginning of their 10 year run, in season 1, they had a show titled "The One with the Ick Factor". Now this post, really has nothing to do with Friends, or that particular show, I just thought the title was fitting for the topic.

It's on the newstands, and on TV and all over the tabloids. The famous talk show host/comedian, Ellen DeGeneres has gotton married. To her girlfriend. Now I think this is just disgusting! When did this become the "norm" and nothing to blink twice at? Now, Ellen is a popular talk show host, among many, and I must say, that I have seen her show before, and she is quite humorous at times. However, I believe, the lifestyle she has chosen to live, is absolutely, 100% wrong. I do, personally know 2 people, that I can think of right now, who are homosexual. One lady, divorced her husband, and chose an alternate lifestyle, and another, a guy I went to high school with, used to be pretty good friends with, I have discovered that he has chosen the other lifestyle as well.

I turned on my computer this morning, and saw even more disturbing news, that now, according to the Associated Press, apparently Hallmark (whom I've always thought was a well respected company) is putting out gay/lesbian cards to...... "be as relevant as possible to as many people as we can" says a Hallmark spokeswoman. What do I have to say to that?? ICK!

What does Jesus think and feel as He looks down on us from Heaven? How saddened He must be! This is not what He had in mind! Not even close!
This just makes my stomache turn. How far we have drifted from God and the Truth! To those reading this, whom I do not know, or who may be living, or pursuing this lifestyle.......turn to God! It's not too late! Ask for forgiveness. The Lord says, "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

I was listening to the radio the other day, and they were talking about how presidential hopefulls, John McCain and Barack Obama have agreed on one thing. They were both asked, seperately, what their defination was of a 'marriage'. They both said, the convenant between a man and a woman. And to that, I said a big AMEN.

"Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." Hebrews 13:4

Random Ramblings

Yes, it has been a few days since I've been here last. Well, life happens, and I haven't had much time to blog. Weekends are always crazy over here. But now it is exactly 12:00- midnight, on Sunday night, and as everyone else in my home sleeps, I can finally get on here to visit with you! It was a fun, but busy weekend. Went to a wedding on Saturday, and mom and dad watched the kids. (um, yea, if we had to take the kids to a wedding, we might as well have stayed home! So, thanks for watching them, mom and dad!) Afterwards, Jer and I went to eat at my fave italian place- Zio's. We had a gift card to there that we hadn't used yet. So we only had to pay like $5 of the bill -- even better. =)

Church was really good today. Our pastor and youth pastor co-preached- which was a lot of fun, and we got to hear from/see some of the youth participating in service more today. We like to mix things up a little. Other than church, today was a day of rest and relaxation at home. We all napped today- which was wonderful. (which is also probably why I'm still up at midnight- haha)

Ok, so I've made the decision that I can't let what other people say/do to me dictate my mood and whether I have a good day or a bad day. Yes, some of you are probably like, 'why does she do that anyways?' Well, I do. or used to. I'll try not to from here on out. With God's help- I will overcome! I know who I am, and my thoughts, morals, intentions ...yada....yada....yada. Yes, I have become more laid back since meeting and marrying Jer. He is the most easy-going, laid back person you would meet. And some of that has rubbed off on me. Unfortunately, some of my old sensitive, moody self tends to seep back in. Not that being sensitive is bad, mind you. There's just got to be a good balance. Moving on.....

We have one more full day until my little girl gets on the bus to her first day of preschool! We are ready......backpack, supplies and all......I'll let you know how it turns out! We were talking to Lilly about it tonight, about her first day, and getting to play at school, and reminding her of her teacher that we met last week, and Isaiah said, 'I want to go too'! We told him it was just for Lilly, and he would get to stay home and play with mommy. He got this really bummed out look on his face. ha! Poor thing.....we'll have to do something fun this week. Just me and my bubba.

I'm off to get some zzz's....the kiddos will be awake again before I know it......

Hugs~ ShEiLa

bible study blurb

The family and I had a great weekend. We got a lot done and was still able to rest a little bit. I ended up going to Brandi's on Friday night, and was scrapbooking with her until 2AM, so I missed my Friday night blog. It was fun though- we both got a lot done. I enjoy scrapbooking with Brandi - she gives me some great ideas. Plus, she has her cricut machine, for us to make die cuts and letters, so I can use that- so that's an extra bonus. :) I'm requesting the larger cricut machine for my birthday, so we can make larger things and share our cartridges. (ahem....hint hint Jer.....) :)

Church was great yesterday. I enjoyed the sermon. It was about teaching us how to study God's word, and do bible studies, instead of aimlessly reading through the Bible, he was teaching us how to dig deeper. It was really good, and gave us some good references of some Bibles to use for different studies.

I am really looking forward to the ladies bible studies starting up again in the fall. We are having our ladies summer party on Aug 22nd, and will get all the info on all the upcoming bible studies then. Bible studies and small groups are such a great way for women to come together in a smaller, more intimate setting and learn God's word together. Especially since our church is growing, it is hard to connect with people, unless you are involved in a small group of some sort. I highly recommend it!

Today is a lazy, rainy, cloudy day. Good day to sleep in, which is what we did. Isaiah finally woke us up at 9:00 this morning. What a nice change! We hung out with mom some today, and went to her house. Saw some good sales at Michael's in this weeks ads. Hm, I might have to go over there later..... :) In the meantime.......I'm off for some quiet time while the kids are resting. :)

Me- Day

Hello again my wonderful web friends! Things are going good over here at 'Faith Family & Friends'. I spent the day yesterday watching my nephews, Ben and Braden. They were good-- kept my kids entertained pretty good. Ben watched a lot of TV (he's almost 7, and I don't have any 7 year old boy toys....and it was wet outside....) Between watching TV and playing in the basement, I think we spent the rest of our time eating in the kitchen. Seemed like I just cleaned up the kitchen, and one of the kids was sayin' they were hungry again. LOL. Silly kids. Anyways, last night it was just me and the kids after my SIL picked up the boys. Jer went to a Royals game with my dad and bro-in-law and someone from dads church. Dinner was provided before the game- something special with dads work or something. They had BBQ- said it was yummy. They all seemed to have a good time. Except that right after the 7th inning stretch, the clouds let loose and they all got drenched. Needless to say, the game was done there, and everybody went running for shelter!

Tonight, I was a bad girl and played hookey from church. (shhhhh....don't tell anyone). Hey.....it doesn't happen that often!!! Brandi came over and used our scanner and scanned a bunch of pictures for a slideshow she's making for her parents. So we just hung out. Jer and the kids went to church. Jer talked to his mom briefly tonight about Grandma. I guess she went to the doctor today, to get her meds changed, since the one she was on, was just making her so sick and weak. So hopefully the change will help her, and she'll get some strength back. It's been 14 days since she started chemo, and drs don't think she should still be feeling this badly. If the new meds don't help, and she's not better by July 30th, their going to hold off on giving her her 2nd round of chemo. Otherwise, she's scheduled for more chemo on the 30th. Please continue to pray.

So I watched my nephews yesterday, like I said before, and my SIL got a "me day". So I've declared a "me day" tomorrow, and I'm dropping my kids off at my SIL's house in the morning. Yea! If only you could see me now.....doin' the happy dance!
I'll be spending part of my day tomorrow with Brandi, having lunch and going to a scrapbook store. Brandi said she's just taking cash, and leaving her cards at home, so she won't even be tempted to over-spend. Hm. Not a bad idea. ;)

Our Weekend

My weekend was spent with friends, eating and scrapbooking. I hosted a overnight scrpabook crop-fest at my house, Friday night until late Saturday night. We had a lot of fun. More food than we would ever need, and we got a lot of scrapbook pages done. I was pleased. Although now I'm tired. My friend Brandi and I were the only brave ones to stay overnight. She finally crashed with her 7 1/2 month son around 3AM, and I hit the sack shortly after around 3:30. A couple more friends came on Saturday, and joined us in our scrapping fun. :) My sister and her family watched our kids. (Thank You!). The kids seemed to have a really good time over there. They were awfully excited to be spending the night over there. The kids were dragging their suitcases all over the house on Friday. lol. And there were no tears when I left, so that made it easier. My husband was even able to get in a little R&R, since the kids were gone. So what did he do? He took a nap at 8:00 at night, and woke up around 10 or 11, and ate some of our food and watched a couple movies until almost 4 in the morning. Silly hubby!

On Saturday, he went over to my parents house, who.........is getting a pool!!! :) I'm so excited. If you've read my blogs for any amount of time, you know I love swimming, and would love to have my own pool at my house (instead of sharing it with a million other people at our neighborhood pool). However, our HOA restricts above ground pools...... in-ground only. Well, not a problem.........if only we had 20 grand to do it! So, after much discussion and persuasian, I have finally talked my dad into getting a pool. He has the perfect land for it..... 3 1/2 acres, tons of yard, and NO HOA rules! So Saturday they dug the hole, and today the installer guys came and set it up, and it is filling as we speak, er, type. I'm pumped! I'm ready! The kids will absolutely love it. Lilly has allready talked about wanting to go swimming at Me Ma and Pa Pa's house. In fact, we took the kids over there one night last week to visit, and Lilly packed her swimsuit and sunscreen and took over there- she was ready! (she's heard us talking about it apparently). The pool has come just in time--- looks like a HOT week here in KC. The water might be chilly at first, but it'll warm quickly. Swimming at my parents house this week..........anyone want to join us?? ;)

Fireworks

I have a love/hate relationship with fireworks. I love them when we are outside, having a BBQ and watching them with family. They are so pretty and so much fun. (although I'd never spend any of my own $$ on them....what a waste....you might as well light a match to your dollars and watch it go up in smoke......literaly!) Anyways, back to my love/hate relationship. The hate part comes late at night, when I'm lying in bed trying to sleep and I keep hearing 'bang! bang!' and each time thinking......"please don't wake the kids.....please don't wake the kids....". Or when it is only July 1st or 2nd, and I hear them going off at 7:00 when it's not even dark yet. People just can't wait to burn up their $$ I guess.....? Hm. I'll never understand that one. I hope I don't sound like the grinch (oops- wrong holiday), I really do like fireworks.....just not spent with my own money- haha.

Our church used to do an annual fireworks community event every year, but we are skipping this year, because of the building program, and the land being totally torn up around the church. But seriously, the church hired this family in the church who owned their own fireworks business, and they did this HUGE display of fireworks. It would last for like half an hour or so, and they even had it timed to music- which was totally cool. It cost the church somewhere around $10,000 to do this. We're not helping this family out this year, by hosting this big bash, but I don't think they'll be hurting......they are doing fireworks for another event whose getting $30,000 worth of fireworks! Cha-ching!

Hope the fireworks aren't keep you up late at night.....

~Sheila~
